Slight problem with that. While they will get the message, the person will not be able to respond to it; which kills the whole flow of the application.

What would really make this useful is an iMessage App for the Mac OS X Desktop. That way you can stay connected even if your iOS device isn't with you, or for Apple Mac users who don't yet own an iOS device. A Windows client would help adoption rates as well. Kind of a stretch, I know, but I believe would still be useful.

I am having the same problem. My wife has an iPad 2 and I have one, but while we can activate iMessage on our iPads, we cannot send each other a message through iMessage, even using two different Apple ID's and e-mail addresses. We get the message that our e-mail addresses are not registered with iMessage. is there some step in the set-up I missed>

Very frustrating...

I love imessage. I have been using it for a while now with the developer. I like how it sends hi-resolution video instead of the toned down choppy version over a sms message. I love how you can tell when the other person is typing also. Very nice feature.

I actually think you can or will be able to soon. I read somewhere where it will work with ichat.

No, the iMessage will go out over the data network or WiFi. It isn't a SMS text message nor does it use that service. The cell providers are pretty choked about this, as they can't stop it as it is a totally legit use of the data network.:D

It would seem that iMessage doesn't work here in the UAE, probably because the Government didn't allow it. While the App itself is installed upon update to iOS 5, whenever I try to log in, it won't continue.

Seriously don't get it.... I've been using it for about a week now and it seems no different than texting to me.... other than the fact you can see when they've received the message. Other than that, it's the same exact concept in my eyes. You send a text, someone receives it and they reply. What am I missing here? Cuz I really don't get it....
