Create scalable vector halftones in Illustrator

Sometimes, the tracing may create malformed or jagged dots. To remedy this, select the contents of the layer group (be sure to deselect any conjoined dots) and apply Effect>Convert To Shape>Ellipse to make them all round again. Then you can simply apply Object>Expand Appearance to leave you image with much more precise dot forms.

Fantastic tutorial!-thank you so much. I had been struggling as the dots were getting distorted when I live traced. Your raster settings information did the trick.
