I've been using GarageBand for some time now.

Nothing like James Brown screaming "One, two three four, get on up... get on the scene, like a sex machine!", to wake me up in the middle of an afternoon snooze in my cubicle. :)

What would be really nice is showing us how to tell our phone to NOT play a notification sound when you are on the phone. It is really annoying! You miss a big chunk of the conversation because the iPhone just blasted the sound in your ear.

If you only need to get your sound 30 seconds, you can do this in iTunes. Edit the start and stop times and convert to AAC to create a new file.

I have the Xbox 360 'Achievement Unlocked' tone too, but for my text and iMessages. Love it.

I keep getting an error message. iTunes says that my file cannot be played on my iPod. I have a 3rd generation iPod touch with iOS5. Does anyone know what's going on?

Is there a maximum duration for sounds? I'd like to have a 10 minute sound that consists of a "beep" every 1-2 minutes to alert me to missed voicemails. I was hoping that iOS 5 would allow repeat alerts for missed voice mails as exists for messages.

Personally I like Ringer for this - easy and quick to edit and export to iTunes Ringtones

Is anyone else having trouble with the custom tone selection? It allows the selection of the new tone for the different events, but it then uses the old tone ignoring the new selection when the time comes. It is happening with both our 4S running OS5, as well as with an old 3G.

I AGREE! I've been waiting for this since iOS 3.0. I wrote Apple about this problem, and the fact that I was missing appts, meetings, etc. because that single little chirp for Calendar events is worthless. If your iphone is on your belt holster, in your pocket, on your desk, you won't hear it. And, the stupid thing doesn't repeat at all. I told them to add a repeat every minute, up to 1 hr., until you physically press a button acknowledging the alert. Hell, my old Palm Treo did that, and it worked beautifully. Anything I scheduled in the Calendar, would go off every minute, up to 1 hr. (if you set it that way), until I picked up the phone and pressed a button. That really worked well. Apple did responded to my request, and promised it would be added in the next update of 3.1(we're at 6.0 and still waiting) There are a HUGE number of people that have asked for a repeat feature for the Calendar event alerts, but so far....nothing from Apple. Really? This is a simple fix.
