Hi,

I just managed to get Windows 7 Ultimate x64 working in Boot Camp on my Macbook Pro OS X Lion. The only problem is that the sound doesn't work, and I'd really, really like to fix it since pretty much my only reason for installing Windows in the first place was to play my old games...I can't hear anything coming from the speakers or the headphones, even though the green bar bounces up just like it's making a sound. There is a red light coming from the headphone jack. I have done some research and I think the red light means I don't have the right driver...or something. I know that there are tons of similar threads like this out there, but the problem is that in pretty much all of those cases, someone recommended the person to get RealTek HD audio drivers and everything was fixed! I tried the same thing and what a surprise with my luck, it didn't work. I'm pretty sure I downloaded the right version, Windows 7 x64, from the realtek website...I went through setup, everything seemed fine, it told me to restart so I did, and then when I boot up again, not only does the audio still not work, but there is absolutely zero evidence that I installed the driver at all. Literally when I search for anything containing the word "realtek" the only thing I can find is the file I used to launch setup. Nothing is there. I went through this process 3 (!) times and no progress --- I go through setup but it's as though it never happened. Can someone please help me out, maybe point me to an alternative driver or something? I'd really like to get this to work! I can provide more information or screen shots if needed.

Thanks for your time,
A.T.

after you installed bootcamp...
then installed Win7..
and booted your Mac into Windows...

did you stick the Mac OS install disc in while in Windows and run the Bootcamp installer there?
that Mac OS Install disc has your drivers and a good chance it will fix your sound problem.

Running Lion (all updates) on 2009 MBP. Boot Camp Assistant says it will download Windows Support required for Windows 7. Installed fresh updated Windows 7. Ran Windows Support driver install for Intel & RealTek. Intel would not run and RealTek did not do anything. Now what?? BTW video driver did install and 3d rendering works, just no audio of any kind. Apple Genius bar could not figure it out either.
