That is great, but for people that have had Macs for years before they launched iCloud, how are you supposed to upload things from their Mac's to the cloud? I have a MacBook Pro full of documents and files that I would love to have access to on my iPad when traveling about.

As long as Macs are left out, this is a crippled solution, in my opinion. Serious work is still done on the Mac. I hope Apple will do something about this, because we were certainly led to believe that it would be an effortless, seamless solution across ALL devices and Macs are devices, too.

I tried the workaround mentioned earlier. I could get a document created on a Mac into the Mobile Documents folder that could then be edited on an iOS device, but once the iOS device touches it, the Mobile Document is converted to a .tef folder, and I can't find a way to open it up on the Mac.

Until they update the iWork apps on the MacOS to work seamlessly with iCloud documents, that part of the iCloud enterprise will just be an irrelvant toy.

I've tried to set this up and use it with icloud.com but the website never recognizes that I have iWork on my iOS devices.

One great feature of iWork on iOS is the support for opening and saving documents to WebDAV servers. I got myself a Mac Mini running OS X Server (Lion), connected it via an ethernet cable to my home Time Capsule, did a very simple setup of activating file sharing and web serving (it really was simple to setup in Lion server) and now I can access my files on any iOS device, anywhere. I can even share my files with others. I don't bother with iWork on iCloud anymore since I can access and store the files I want, when I want, where I want. Very cool! The best part is OS X Server was $49!!!!!

I still prefer DropBox. And we're starting to see iOS apps with DropBox support for cloud computing. I'm writing a book using WriteRoom on my iPad and it's saving to my DropBox account automatically. I like.

I am having a problem with Pages on my iPad2. If I edit a Pages doc on my iPad2 (created either on my MacBook Pro or my iPad2) and add any Paragraph titles or numbering, then copy it from iCloud.com back to my MacBook Pro, I cannot Export the altered file to a Word document. Certainly there are other approaches, but this one should work. Prior to iCloud, adding paragraph titles in Pages on my iPad2 then moving it back to my MacBook Pro, I could Export the Pages doc to Word (2011). A bug I believe!

MonileMe wasn't very impressive and iCloud is less so. Most of us want and need complete file interchangeability between all Apple devices (iOS and MacOS X). We also need a service that enables us to share with persons other than ourselves. iCloud is egocentric and insular.

If you want to put a document created on the desktop ino iCloud, go to the iCloud website, select the appropriate app for your document, and drag the document into the browser. It will upload and synch with your iOS devices. Unfortunately, you'll need to download it each time you want to edit it on the desktop, and then repeat the upload process to synch changes. I'd imagine the next desktop iWork will streamline this.

Thanks, CPD_1, but I was already aware of this "solution." Your use of the word "unfortunately" is appropriate.

Not sure if you can help me ---but I recently downloaded iCloud. I have an iPhone 4 and a Mac 10.6.8. I do not own Lion, but do use pages. I was told that if I purchased Lion I would not be able to use my Quicken 2007. Things are getting very complicatedAfter downloading iCloud I now have duplicates of my pictures and calendar dates on my iPhone. I also am unable to sync my calendar from my Mac to my iphone. HELP!!!
Thanks,
Marjie

Your comment "Unfortunately, you'll need to download it each time you want to edit it on the desktop, and then repeat the upload process to synch changes", in my opinion, makes iCloud WORTHLESS for any REAL work-related use.

If my iMac (or any MBs) are not included, it is a waste of my time.
