I'm surprised Macworld's review doesn't mention the outrageous price of the Alien Skin plugins: who is going to shell out $200 for an add-on that is "both efficient and fun"? The target market, at that pricing, is not Macworld's general readership, but rather for professional studios that can write such a check without blinking, and make professional use of it. At that price the emphasis should be on "efficient", or productivity, and not fun. Geez, you can buy Pixelmator, an almost full-blown replacement for Photoshop, for $30.

If Alien Skin is interested in capturing the "fun" market, they will radically need to rethink their pricing strategy: how about offering their plugins in the App Store for, say, $30? Only then could we include "fun" in describing their products.

I've used Snap Art since the first edition. Just like Photoshop and other photography related software packages and plug-ins, I do find them fun to use. Even though they are expensive. Apple computers are also expensive, but boy are they fun!

Anyway, here's a few images that I had a blast creating with SnapArt: http://haber.phanfar...Gallery/4950829

I've recently been exploring lower-cost, and no-cost products, too. So, for those of you so inclined, check out DAP (Dynamic Auto-Painter) as one such product.

Have fun, ya'll.
