MBps / Mbps is such a confusing term you should always spell it out the first time you use it.
Mbps is Mega Bits Per Second
MBps is Mega BYTES per second.
I'll also add that since the drive performance was only ~ 30 Mega BYTES per second which translates to about 240 Mega BITs per second it appears that USB 3.0 would make no difference since the drive wasn't even pushing the theoretical barrier of the USB 2.0 port which is ~ 400 Mega BITs per second. Still I would have liked the author to state this or at least test it to see if USB 3.0 would make any difference in speed.

I am no tech oriented person so I appreciate your clarifications and join in your frustration at use of jargon abbreviations. Another clarification I wish the author made was the FW800/USB 2.0 adaptor- what is it and why would I pay $50.00 for it?

Well, they had better hurry up, they only have one month left! My bet is they don't have the Thunderbolt adapter by the end of the year, or they will rush it to market and it will be a POS.
