The last one is more a desire than a trend...
The iPod remained alone almost forever...

#4 is the most troubling, I've dropped out of some web services and content sites because they keep trying to link to my FaceBook account. I find this to be an annoying and disturbing trend.

Point 3 sounds more like consumer wishful thinking and not trends. The carriers will fight tooth and nail not to become a dumb pipe and a data only plan is just that, a dumb pipe. And what's with the constant advertising of "unlimited" data, with limitations?

Most of us can only dream of hi-speed wireless web access, and not just for the near future either. And as far as being forced into signing up for a Facebook account before I can use any web service? Fuggetaboutit! I'll find another service that doesn't require it ,even if it isn't as good. I have no use for Facebook, Twitter, or any of those other "social" time wasters......

"Facebook accounts become necessary to do more stuff on the Web"

What utter rubbish. Necessary to do what kind of stuff? Pictures of kitties? Incessant whining from narcissists?

3. Wake me up when I can EVER get a Data-only or reduced-voice cell phone plan on an iPhone

In your (and my) dreams. Sincerely doubt this will happen in 2012. Or '13. Or '14(?) Much better for the carriers to force me to pay $40/mo for a service of which I use about $2.
