What? Did you get a hold of Reed Hastings' playbook?

Change your name too. It sounds too much like a bad porn flick out of San Fernando Valley.

These sorts of reports make me very sad indeed (and this is just the mainstream stuff. It's the little guy content creators that are the real losers):

They also host websites & email setups. My domain name was regestered with GoDaddy as well as my website run through them.

1. They were proponents of SOPA. And while I don't really care that much about SOPA, because my domains are all legit - I can see a heavy-handed approach here. I could easily see that if they simply don't like what they see they feel it should be within their jurisdiction to just flip the switch. I really don’t feel comfortable with that attitude. Does GoDaddy think they're the God of the internet?
In my early years of ecommerce, I had my ecommerce domain hosted on GoDaddy. All of a sudden (coincidentally while I was out of the country) they shut my site down. Why? Because they said my database was using too much bandwidth. That may have been true, but to shut my site down without contacting me first - without even giving me a warning - that was over the top! And let me tell you - it was so much fun trying to get my site moved to a different provider and back up and running while my wife and I were sitting in a wifi cafe on our first trip to Europe. The pain GoDaddy caused during our first 24 hours in Europe was excruciating.
Bob Parsons apparently likes to bag elephants (in the name of helping the locals in Zimbabwe). Yeah right! If the locals have an elephant problem, I’m confident that they can deal with it in the same way they have for hundreds of years - long before this cowboy came to town. The truth is, he apparently enjoyed killing it. Why else would he have been there doing it? He even had the nerve to film the whole thing and post the video. Kinda creepy.
The fourth reason I’ve chosen to leave the company is the scumminess of everything mentioned above - combined with the company’s marketing. They think it’s necessary to use sex to sell. It all fits together, the company has a problem with ethics. Ethics, it should be a driving force in a company. This company seems to have a deficiency in that department. Right down to the recent news story that they’ve reportedly blocked people’s transfers. All this adds up to a company that I don’t want to partner with. I make my living from my domains. I don’t want this organization being associated with my company any longer.
So these are the reasons I have transferred 58 domains away from GoDaddy. I hope GoDaddy debacle goes down in history as a lesson for students of business that when you do the wrong thing(s), it can sometimes (in fact often) comes back to bite you in the butt.

-Go Daddy has a provision that makes them immune from the bill.
-Go Daddy help draft the bill.
-Go Daddy has publicly said it is against the bill, but has not said so in Congress (where it counts the most). Basically it's a PR move and nothing else. Also a sign if this fails, they might craft another equally bad bid in the future.

Hi, i had to log in to reply to your comment because when Apple recommended GoDaddy to me when MobileMe was announced to be cancelled, my exact thoughts were why does this domain service have a name that sounds like a porno? It is nice to know that someone else agreed. http://forums.macwor...ult/biggrin.gif
I haven't seen the Ads myself but it does not surprise me, I completely think that if people want to leave them because of SOPA then that is their right. I do not think they are going to get costumers back because they only send out the statement because they were worried about losing their money, not because of any real regret. There is just something fishy about them.
Certainly happy i chose a different service..
