Time to dispense with the "inches" measurement and go with feet--this would be a 6.7-foot (diag) TV. Yikes!

As the TVs enlarge, so do the pixels.
Advantage? Fedex.

I am one of the consumers who prefer paying for bigger screen vs. paying for 3D bells and whistles.
Mac Pro, 3.0GHz (2008), iMac 2005 (PPC, 20 in)

I hope living rooms are getting bigger. Bigger is better to the less intelligent. Ill pay a little more for a better design or even a custom display to a fit a certain room but not just because its bigger.

They have last year's 70" 120 Hz model on sale at Costco for under $2,500 now.

I use a 47" model to show my customers the work we are doing. It saves a lot of time. A larger model would make things even a little better. I'm not sure how much the resolution needs to be raised. We just need higher resolution to show more information. Then these screens can be better for genera use.

Sharp goes big with an 80" gimmick that your friends can laugh at in 5 years because 3D TV will be deader than a doornail.
Basking in the glow of iPad Retina goodness.

Believe it or not, it'll still be a working 80 in. HDTV in 5 years too.

Awesome burn. Guess he doesn't know that 3D TVs also display images in 2D as well.

I'm not that impressed with current 3D technology. I took my son to see Star Wars I in 3D and the effects were very subtle at best. Some 3D movies give me a headache after 30 minutes to an hour. When 3D TV technology resembles Star Trek: The Next Generation's holodeck, count me in! I just hope Best Buy will have 0% financing for life when the technology arrives at the stores.

Cheers,
