Optimist. They're busily trying to spin it. The sand people are easily startled; they'll be back, and in greater numbers.

I keep thinking of the days not so many years ago when friends teased me for touting the Mac,spending my hard earned dollars on the "toy computer" and not following "common sense" to purchase a Wintel machine.
I think of more recent comments from friends who have marveled " You stuck with Apple all those years, ( have owned Macs since 1987), how did you know?"
I note today's news and beam. Quality, innovation, Design genius, research, vision, mystique, marketing aplomb are some of the qualities or aspects of Apple represented by today's financial report.
I am a simple end user who loves her Apple products and I beam happily at todays' news.

Don't forget the incredibly tight production logistics. Products are rarely late, rarely with major crippling issues. That's just old fashioned discipline. Apple now has flashy innovation and discipline. Amazing.

When these products run out of steam, I hope they continue to innovate.
Apple is truly a shining light in a somewhat dull world right now.

My suspicion is that Apple will continue to grow, with Steve Jobs' DNA in its veins.
My bet is on Apple and Tim Cook.

Let’s hope that Apple Inc. (formerly Apple Computer Inc.) doesn’t shove Mac into “hobby” status along with Apple TV, or that Macs won’t suffer from inappropriate iOS-centric design decisions. I would love to hear Cook verbalize that Apple's roots are in Macintosh and Mac will remain as part of Apple's core.

Not to worry. My best guess on iOS/Mac OS X fusion is that there will always be an option to opt out of the iOS-ification of Mac OS X. The Mac piece of the Apple revenue pie is significant. The US Mac share of PC sales is trending upward (even faster in the past two years.)
