I am pretty tech savvy and have always been impressed with how easy Apple makes things. But I have to say the transition to iCloud has been a nightmare and I find the Apple Support material woefully inadequate. I also took my computer and devices to an Apple genius bar and found them to be clueless as well. This would have been a perfect opportunity for Macworld to provide a truly value-added service. Attempts to date in this regard just touch the surface. It would be great if someone would do some real homework and provide much needed assistance. The problem I have had has been particularly confusing because I was an me.com subscriber. I look forward to hearing from you or seeing something. Best of luck.

Hiya,

Here's a link to all our iCloud coverage so far; we've written quite a few stories on troubleshooting pesky transitions, so hopefully that may help somewhat. We're also planning on writing another series of iCloud FAQs, so stay tuned.

Furthermore, iCloud has competition. Compare accessing your data/documents in the cloud vs going back to your Mac. There are advantages to the cloud but It is nice to have your own cloud essentially. Cloud options include iCloud, Dropbox, and Sugarsync. Getting back to your Mac on your iOS device might be by LogMeIn, Screens, iTeleport, and others. Maybe even Lion Server. I can't find any that are reliably able to connect to a home LAN or a sleeping Mac.

What a great article or series on Accessing your data everywhere!

Thanks,
David
