Excellent article again. Reading Mac 911 has been worth my while since reading your mag and joining MWI.

Interestingly, I haven't updated my AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express, and they blinked yellow for a while, but they haven't done so in a couple of weeks. I guess they gave up.

I've been on 7.6 since the update and never experienced any problems.

I had that happen too. But after a couple of weeks it started up again.

7.6, so far, is much more stable for me than 7.5.2 - stability being not seeing a yellow light and having to unplug/re-plug the A/C power to reboot the time capsule to get status back to green. So far so good...

My problem wasn't an issue of compatibility or stability with 7.6, but an issue of wireless transfer speeds. Sitting in the same room, 10 feet away from airport base station, and my transfer was around 1 Mbit/second - which was about 10% the speed I could obtain with 7.52 - there was and issue with it, so I have ensured my airports don't 'check for updates' and I usually only get 1 request every month or so.

7.6 is working fabulously for with one tiny exception: the "time connected" field in the top menu bar often goes negative. Right now it displays -20:-02:-40. It seems bizarre, but nothing else is wrong. It backs up beautifully, the connect speed is fine, the light is green, the printer works fine via USB.

Never had 7.5.2 problems, nor do I have 7.6 problems, but, I know where I'm coming for advise if I do.

7.6.1 is now available along with new 6.0 Airport utility. Not sure what to think of the new utility.

The only issue I've had using 7.6 on 10.6.8 is every 4 or 5 wake from sleeps, the wireless is disconnected even though Airport is "on"" and I have to turn it off then back on. Then it works fine again. Just upgraded to FW 7.6.1; let's see if that corrects it. (Prob not...)

The new 6.0 Utility is Lion only, so Snow Leopard users can rejoice knowing that they don't have to deal with that messed up app. And, the AirPort Utility 5.5.3 will still update N devices to 7.6.1. Hopefully the 7.6.1 update will fix the "once-in-awhile" random dropouts and reconnects of my AppleTV2.

The new utility is now like that of the iPad/iPhone... It's a change, but I think I kinda like it.
