How does this play with Notes and Communicator users? Critical in an office/engineering environment!
And what of screen sharing? I see no mention of this feature.
There seems to be room for more development!

I'm betting you are right...
Here's how it will go, you can buy apple remote desktop (ARD) from the MacApp store and restore this once free service OR do it thru Back To My Mac which was once a MobileMe service which has the same name but is now part of iCloud which should go a long way to confuse more folks (I know there are other way's but this is Apple's way). Oh well, I will just do that while I look for something to replace Galleries (PhotoStream? Really?), Keychain sync, iDisk and others... sheeesh
Besides... Everyone knows a Lion can whip a Mountain Lion any day... <---- also bass akwards (just a little rant and humor everyone :-)

Yes. Messages continues to allow screen sharing with non iMessage users.
Seriously folks, Messages is just iChat + iMessage and a new name. Everything that was there before seems to be there now. If you hated iChat before and you don’t view iMessage to be a compelling enough feature to change your mind, you will hate Messages. Conversely, if you liked iChat before, I can’t see how this would make you dislike it.

This is very true. The actual application folder is still called iChat.app even though the name in the Finder is Messages. Download the beta and do a Get Info on the application.
