Why, please — if you're offering this video as an H.264 download — is Safari falling back to the POS Flash plugin for playback in the browser.

"Note that this Login keychain is very specifically tied to your administrator’s account."

Are you sure about this? I thought it was tied to the user's OS login password. Now yes, if the user happens to be the admin it's true, but in general I believe it is not.

You're correct. I can't fix the video but I will fix the transcript.

I have worked with Keychain Access for years. People sing the praises of 1Password, but it's really a program that makes clever use of the Keychain. It's great that you have produced this tutorial.

You can unbundle the login Keychain password from the User password and I think that is a good idea as it provides a second line of defense. That way, if someone manages to discover and log in with your User password, they still need the Keychain password to access the things you have chosen to protect.

Right click (control-Click, 2 finger trackpad click) the download link and select Download Linked File. As to why we get the unwanted behavior: it could be the way the link is written, I don't know. I've learned to avoid it.

The video is blurry in QuickTime Player (Lion version) at any size.

I have been using keychain for years. One question, is there a keyboard shortcut for "Show Password". Clicking the box is just annoying!

When I look at Keychain Access there are some certificates with this message: "This root certificate is not trusted." I can erase them, but I hesitate to do so since I am not sure what might happen to other apps/logins. What should I do?

No red entries, but got "Verification failed." Enabled Repair and got "No problems found" at the end. It said nothing about fixing anything. I did this in response to hearing (actually, reading) "can no longer automatically log into websites that you previously could...your keychain may be corrupt." [Including at macworld.com every time.] Did my keychain get fixed?
I'm worrying because the last time (years ago) I used the Keychain First Aid the whole keychain was obliterated and I had to painstakingly recreate it - this time I was smarter. I took a backup before I proceeded.

Chris,

Did I hear you correctly at 2.24 , say that your key chain is "bolloxed up" in some way? Nice one.

You did. But in the US we spell it "bollixed" and it's not considered rude as it is across either pond.
