I like the looks of both ical and address book but hope that the address book will have the vertical alphabet down one side to assist with faster name selection.

Oh thank you! They completely fuglied up those two apps. Address Book/Contacts became unnecessarily harder to use in Lion, and it really made me hate using it. It was a disgrace. And the change to do's and iCal... blech!

One of the things I have been waiting for since the days of the old Now Contact and Now Calendar is a button on the contact screen that opens a new calendar event with the contact's name filled in allowing me to set the date and time for the meeting. The Contacts app should also link those meetings and show them when I look at the contact entry. It would be nice if the engineer's would talk to actual end users instead of Apple managers or magazine editors.

Why, in a machine that is so graphics oriented, area the pictures of the contacts soooo tiny? I would much rather be able to clearly see a picture of the contacts face than all the faux graphics to make it look like a physical address book.

Any chance that their applescript dictionaries have been updated too? iCal in particular currently requires some system event acrobatics to do much of anything. Thanks for the update!

Any way I can have you guys test syncing Contacts with a Kerio account with 10,000 contacts in it?

I have a client plagued with Address Book being incapable of dealing with that many contacts when our iPhones can handle over 15,000 with no problems in any way. If they've finally used their iOS source code in their creation of Contacts, we may well be saved.

Love it! It brings back the features that work in the Snow Leopard style, yet look forward to the new View of iOS, I love the fact that with the TrackPad the computer reassembles the Tablets!

As I never turn calendars on or off, the sidebar will just get in the way for me.

The new address book view makes much more sense. Can they also bring back the autofill for the country please.

Return of three-column layout view in Address Book/Contacts--great!!! Maybe Address Book/Contacts will be useable again.

Now if they will make it optional to hide letters of the alphabet as headers in a list of contacts, which take up and waste a line, I can get back to work. (Do these Apple designers ever work on 11" Airs that need every inch of vertical real estate?)

Very happy about both these improvements. Especially so with bringing back mini-calendars. I often use weekly mode, but still need to see and jump to other dates in other weeks quickly.

What they need to do is give us the ability to adjust the look of the numbers and fonts and to darken the divider lines in calendar, as far as contacts goes stop trying to reinvent the wheel and go to using box,s like every other contact app

From their unnecessarily skeuomorphic interfaces to their omission of features available in Snow Leopard, these two apps have, in many a user’s mind, earned the criticism they’ve received. Very impressive (I'm sure); but what does it mean (in plain english, or something close to it)? Skeuomorphic is quite a work?
