Since it is expected that OS X 10.8 will leave many machines unable to upgrade beyond Lion, will Apple continue to support and update 10.7 for those users or will 10.7.x (the last update before 10.8) be the end of the line for Lion for those users?

Surprisingly my 2008 13" unibody Aluminum MacBook is compatible. That makes it quite a bit more valuable for resale than I thought.

Awesome, informative article. I do have one question, though: what is this new "form input" feature in Preview?

I expect users on 10.7 will likely see the same sort of support as users on 10.6 and previous OSes--that is, fixes for crucial security issues and major bugs, but no new features.

This was on Apple's list of "neat random new things in Mountain Lion," but I haven't been able to figure out by snooping around just yet. Preview in Lion lets you fill out any PDF intelligently marked as a form (IE, if you download a version of your W4, you can automatically type in those fields), but I'm not sure if Mountain Lion augments this in any way. Looking into it.

"Any time there's a new operating system, there's bound to be lots of questions about new features and capabilities."

I would be more inclined to say "there *are* bound to be lots of questions," but perhaps that's just me.

I would be more inclined to say "there *are* bound to be lots of questions," but perhaps that's just me.

And I would likely write around the problem, as in "...lots of questions are bound to arise (or perhaps "be asked")." Just me.

I think you're grammatically correct as the article pluralizes with "questions" meaning that "are" is probably the correct way to write the sentence.

Dropping RSS reader is a terrible idea. I always loved Safari's RSS over Goggle reader. If they finally decide to drop it, then I'm going to permanently switch to Chrome.

Same as Lion, I believe. (So yes.)

No Siri that we've seen or heard. She's keeping coy.

You can go directly from Snow Leopard, but you must be running the latest version--OS X 10.6.8.

Those of you that sync with Google Contacts should know the Mountain Lion beta does not complete the action at this stage. It appears iCloud contacts only for now, although the feature is available so im sure will not be dropped.
