Evernote is a much simpler and more elegant option ... and free unless you're a 'heavy' user

I use the PDF route. I have a folder with great MacWorld articles that help me everyday. The PDF includes any graphics included with the article.

I find that TextEdit is adequate for archiving web pages as rtf or rtfd without need for Word or Automator. After selecting the text, go to the Safari > Services menu and select New TextEdit Window Containing Selection. You can even add a shortcut for this from System Preferences' Keyboard tab; I used CTL-OPT-E. Once the TextEdit window is open, you can Save as… in Snow Leopard and earlier (don't remember Lion option) for rtf, or rtfd if it contains images, or you can Print to PDF.

I don't find "New TextEdit Window Containing Selection" (or anything else about TextEdit) in my Safari > Services menu.

Thanks for the hint. I like the Print>Save as PDF option. I've been saving Macworld articles as web archives, but this is much cleaner. The one advantage of the web archive version is that it includes the comments which, occasionally, can also be useful. And, since I use ad blocking software (Glims and ClickToFlash), the web archive pages aren't too cluttered.

I think printing the Reader view to a PDF is a good way to go.

For customization, the little scriptlet called Printliminator is a beauty! http://css-tricks.co...Printliminator/

Agreed with the above that evernote does this near perfectly. I experimented with several filing methods then settled on it, and it's great.

Also--and sorry if this is obvious--you wont' see the command until text is selected.

nothing will ever beat, DevonThink Pro. I use it for clipping all kids of information from Websites that I visit, I can also file and categorize for easy retrieval later.

DevonThink uses a built in Service that can clip, plain text, Rich text,....what ever....it is an Application I could never live without.

I've been using the Reader, Print to PDF option for some time. I created a MacWorld Archive folder under PDF using the edit option. Now I have all the articles saved in one place. If the reader button does not appear I will look for a print document icon this will usually convert document to a printable document without all the clutter, then choose my MacWorlds Archive folder to save. Last i will use the Safari menu to print and use same save to MacWorld option

A little more information on the Reader button would have been helpful. I went to 3 or 4 sites before I was able to find an explanation on where the button is located and how to use it. Supposedly, I should have buttons at the bottom of the page to permit emailing the article. No sign of those buttons.
