It's halfway to being the great micro 4/3 camera which Panasonic is capable of producing. It needs more manual features - see the GF1 or the GH2. It needs a programmable function button located at a place where you can use it in conjunction with the shutter button. ISO performance at 6,400 and beyond can be improved. Otherwise, my favorite micro 4/3 camera at the present time.

I have a 2 year old Lumix DMZ TC3 with commonly reported problem of red/blue vertical lines thru pix. Panasonic tech folks say this is well known CCD problem and will fix it for about the price I paid for camera. Maybe the new G3 camera have solved this but I am not willing to spend $600+ for probable disappointment.....

bobbyg1, the sensor inside G3 has to do almost nothing with the one from TC3: not only the sensor is much bigger and marks totally different category but also the technology isn't the same: the former is LiveMOS (actually CMOS), the latter is CCD. So you shoudn't have to worry about it.

I love my G3, which I had to buy semi-gray market as Panasonic for some reason seems to have never imported them to the U.S. I'm far from any kind of pro, but a decent shot I managed at a political even on one of my first outings was promptly snapped up by a large local glossy mag.
The articulated LCD is an underhyped advantage -- easy to get discreet shots and low angles, and putting your finger right on the point of focus is huge. Image quality and overall performance are of course a step down from full-blooded DSLRs, but almost as good as a modern DSLR still means "excellent."
Top it off with the fact the body and three decent lenses pack into a lunchbox-sized bag and go anywhere, all day, and it's a fantastic device.
