Mastered for ITunes

Does anybody know how the "Mastered for iTunes" versions are integrated with iTunes Match? For example, if I own a prior version of a work that is now available in a re-mastered version and that work is streamed to me via iTunes Match, am I receiving the re-mastered version or do I need to re-purchase the new version?
