One suggestion I have would be to improve browsing. That's one aspect of the physical store experience that doesn't generally translate well to online shopping. iTunes has a bunch of landing pages that show a relatively small number of new items, but (in my opinion) there has never been a good way to skim a the broader content of the store.

Another thing that would be really great is if I could have some control over the "Recommendations For You" section. For months, iTunes inexplicably kept pushing Samantha Fox on me, and I really wished that there was some way to say "no thanks, I'm not interested in this"!

Can't say I disagree with any of these. Ping flopped because it lacks Facebook integration. Also, I wish Complete my Album would be more efficient. The list is often filled with the same albums multiple times and sometimes with artists I don't remember ever buying a tune from.

There are so many other thing that are wrong with the iTunes Store. Apart from the bloatware it has become, there is no multilingual support, no way to offer anything to friends who live in other countries, no possibility to try most apps before buying them, etc. I live in the french part of Switzerland and as it is a small country there are very few user reviews for apps and movies and they are nearly all in german. I would much prefer to be able to see the american reviews and rent movies in their original english version. Even french movies are most often dubbed in german here!

They can't improve searching until they improve the quality of the information with which they populate the data fields. It has been a train wreck for years. I don't know who enters this information, but they obviously get no training and no oversight. Power search is a joke. All that means is you're placing more restrictions on yourself as you poke around in the dark.

>>don't think people will want to read books on their Macs (and I happen to agree).

I'm the happy owner of a Kindle and iPad and thought I wouldn't want to read on my iMac either except when I'm following along with a how to write apps with Xcode on one screen and a xcode on the other.

Even better, during slow days at the office, popping up a book on screen makes you look more productive than if you were turned away from the monitor and actually reading on your Kindle, iPad or a physical book.

I'm just saying...

I agree with the daily specials. I do browse around the iTunes store for music, but I always double check on Amazon and usually end up making my purchase from Amazon, because of their $5 album specials and also that there are no hidden tax charges included. I understand that iTunes does have $7.99 albums at times, but this doesn't compete with the amount of albums that Amazon offers during their monthly specials. Given that you are able to spot out a album which you are fond of.

8) Stop showing me content I've already bought.

9) Let me vote artists off the page I see under my account.

10) Atomize the entire store. Any type of content that can be bought should be available in a mini store behind the app that can play it.

How about moving iOS app purchasing to the App Store app? I dislike how when I'm searching for an app in iTunes, I have to wade through movies/music/books/etc when all I want to look at is apps.

Yeah! Not only display book samples, but also display "software box covers" e.g. in a cover flow view (the only really good use case for cover flow maybe). This would emulate the shopping feeling in a real store for customers and would allow developers to much better promote their products than just with the poor and boring icons of now....

#8 -- streamline the OS X and Windows versions of iTunes and fix the bloated pig that it is now.

What "hidden tax charges" does Apple have?

Makes sense, but it's not going to happen while iTunes is the tool for managing the content of iOS devices.
