Ok so im having trouble using bootcamp. The whole backstory how i got this way was I already had a macbook pro with bootcamp on it. The other partition was windows xp (worked great). I recently installed Windows 8 trial over the xp partiton (stupid). I love windows 8 over xp but 1 problem, no mac drivers. The only driver i could find was the NVIDIA graphics driver but i still didnt have sound/mac hot keys/ and some other functions. So i erased the whole partition. After that i realized my mac partition had alot of junk on it too with nothing i really wanted. So i decided to start over to when it was new. Im pretty sure i got it back to "new" settings considering all my programs are gone and when i opened up safari that cinematic showed up like when i first got my mac.

So now im trying to get xp back on so i can play games (since mac has little to none) but bootcamp wont work. it says "The disk is not journaled. You must enable journaling using Disk Utility before using the Boot Camp Assistant." That wasnt hard to figure out so i opened disk utility and selected the "Macintosh HD" and the "enable Journaling" button is grayed out. I've worked with partition before and remember using this button but why cant i now? btw the format for the "Macintosh HD" is "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

-side note i also have "disk0s3" listed under "Macintosh HD" is this taking up space and what is it? Its not my CD rom drive cause that has Mac install disk in it and thats list below "disk0s3"

-ive done this several times before with no problem why is it so hard this time? Did i not install snow leopard right?

any help would be great.

It sounds like you did something screwy with your partitions somewhere along the line. I would just boot from your OS CD, run Disk Utility, select the entire disk (NOT the volume, the part at the top that says something like 250 GB <name of manufacturer>), select the "Partition" tab, select "1 Partition" from the dropdown menu, and hit "apply". This will erase everything on the disk (but if course, you have an up-to-date backup you can easily restore from, right?) and give you a single volume on which you can reinstall/restore the Mac OS back to. After doing this, you shouldn't have any problem using Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition.
