No name yet, but maybe they're dropping the identifier? They don't talk about the iMac 5 or the MacBookPro 6...

"Retina" / 264 DPI display = fantastic!
LTE is nice as well, though now one wonders when the iPhone will get it!
I would really like to have a 128 GB iPad though... amazing that they haven't beat the iPad 1 yet.
Bigger and heavier = non Apple-like, although the difference isn't huge.
No Siri = interesting. I wonder if this means that it doesn't have the iPhone's audio input hardware.
Keeping the iPad 2 = smart, since it's cheaper, smaller and lighter and has the same flash storage!
Except for flash storage, it's a great upgrade from iPad 1, particularly if the new iPad has 1 GB of RAM.
Regardless of any compromises, I'd say 2012 looks like another year of the iPad(s).

It is simply called "iPad." It is the same naming scheme they have for the Mac. It isn't as if they sell a "MacBook Air 5." It is simply the MacBook Air. It's the same here. We're in the Post-PC era.

Confusion galore with the name - "I just got a new iPad too!" "Really?, do you mean a new iPad 2 or a new iPad too?"

Official nomenclature is "the new iPad".
They are messing with our brains.
Where is my new iMac?

Kinda disappointing about the price of the iPad 2 dropping only $100.00 for the 16 gig models.
I really was hoping Apple would drop the cameras and find a way to get to $349.00 or less.
I guess it's the refurb store for me!

I had high hopes for Aperture for iPad. Also, when will iOS 5.1 be released?

It is a much nicer update than the iPad 2. They talk about the rear camera being improved from .7MP to 5MP, but what about the front facing camera for FaceTime? Is it still 640x480 on that 2048-by-1536 display? The VGA camera looked pretty awful blown up to 1024x768, so I would imagine it would look even worse blown up to 2048x1536. Finally, they make iPhoto for iOS. The biggest complaint was that you couldn't do anything with the photos on the iPad.

Look for an original iPad on eBay. Those do not have cameras, and would be less expensive than an iPad 2.

Find a friend.
For example, we are selling our 64GB WiFi iPad 2 to a friend for $300. This is $10 more than Gazelle.com will give us.

I have no doubt that the screen is lovely but the camera mean nothing to me. I don't see this model allowing me to do anything that I currently use my original iPad for. I'll look harder as more details become available but probably a miss for me: in fact, I'm not sure what they can do to get me away from my current model.

If they call it simply iPad, that may cause some confusion with the original model of the same name, especially when ordering cases or other accessories from third party vendors who aren't always careful about product names.
