I just want a simple piece of film for the back to go with the Smart Cover. I can even cut my own generic film. Any recommendations anyone?

You should try BodyGuardz or invisibleShield.

All of these sites say nothing about the iPad3, and the iPad3 is suppose to be a bit thicker, so how can you say all of those cases will work for sure?

You missed one really terrific case: Cygnet Leather folio. It is padded nicely for falls and accidents. I have a 3 year old who uses my iPad for games and learning, and I can honestly attest to my iPad being invulnerable. It's about $60 but I got mine in Sam's Club for half that.

The new iPad is less than a millimeter thicker than the iPad 2. It should make no difference with today's cases.
