I have been using the "sleep" option on my computer overnight because sometime ago in booting my computer I ran into a problem when trying to long in into my account. What happened is that after typing in my password it returned to the same login screen twice before it completed the login into my account. As a result I no longer "shot down" my computer overnight because I am afraid that I wont be able to long into my account the next time I boot it up. My question is: how do I log into my account when re-booting my computer should it fails to log in after booting?

When a login attempt (or an already-existing logged-in session) spontaneously dumps you back at the login screen, it's an indicator that the root GUI process - the window manager - has crashed. This is very rare, and usually implicates some 3rd-party software doing something very wrong. It would be a good thing to check the console logs from the last time it happened to see if there are any hints at what triggered it.
