It's too bad they didn't add any *real* improvements to the Reminders app...

1. user-selectable geo-fences. I don't need to be reminded to do something if I'm walking into the door, if I'm walking in somewhere, odds are, I've already remembered.. I need to be reminded to do something as I'm about to walk or drive by a location. Let me set the geo-fence circle as large or small as I need. Better yet, let me select a stretch of road for something I need to be reminded about. Remind me to buy vitamins when driving west, remind me to buy cat food when driving east.

2. Let users select locations on a f'in MAP. I shouldn't need to have every office supply store, grocery store, pet store, etc in my contacts..

3. Multiple locations for a reminder. If I need to "buy milk" let me set a reminder so that my phone will remind me whenever I'm a mile away from anywhere I can buy some milk! Let me set all Publix stores, or all Winn-Dixie stores, or all grocery/convenience stores within 10mi of my home or office.

4. If I'm an hour drive away from the nearest reminder location, power down the gps for 15-30 minutes, save some battery life.

Was really hoping 5.1 would add at least some of these.. Guess we'll have to wait until iOS 6???

I would like to see larger/better proximity to the reminders app: I tried to put my local Target into my contacts so that I could use it as a geofence to remind me to get things when I come back. But even though I was in the store, the GPS linked to the street address, which was one particular mall entrance. When I come in other entrances and go to Target, no location reminders went off. I'd like to be able to set 'nearby' as a trigger.

THANK YOU!!! I have been wanting and expecting the EXACT same features myself! I wrote to Apple of these concerns with no reply. Its so simple why didn't they think of it?? And why won't they add it????

--------

The idea of being able to have prompts alert us for various activities is easy. Use the Calendar function. Even though it is time dependent it doesn't suck all of the life out of the battery to find the place or todo that the goefence does. Then again, we have the one utility that uses no battery power, our memory...

The use of the "electronic bubble" is a good idea. It will be a while before that bubble can get too much larger. It takes power to broadcast a larger presence sphere which is what the RFID world is finding in retail stores. There are also a lot of risks of hacking. And, finally there is the much hated "spam" issue where a less than ethical, of which there seems to be a lot of, advertisers bury the carrier of the device. A one way geofence would be preferred where the holder of the device is notified and not the advertiser/spammer wanting to hit my phone with lots of useless info or spam. The spam issue has gotten way out of hand.
