The handwriting recognition thing can be solved. There is a company that sells a handwriting recognition app for the iPad already and they apparently will license the library.
The application is very buggy. It hasn't crashed on me but it definitely stops responding to taps and gestures. I've also seen the drop down menus spontaneously close themselves. This app is currently not ready for real use. It does show some promise though.

The video demo is an obvious fake. No way can it recognize writing with a fingertip like it implies. I thought it had some great ideas, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $3 to try it.

It is a bit troubling if they are already faking their advertising! Must be something in the Seattle water! I do not mind when companies make things look idealized, but when they show something that literally cannot be done, that is a problem. I would love an app with decent handwriting. Most of them require you to write in a box in a very unnatural way.

The video is pretty close to reality but I agree that it is probably impossible to write that neatly with your finger. I use a stylus though and it seems to work pretty well. It does allow for very fine lines when writing/drawing. I don't care much about $3 and it looked interesting from a UI/UX perspective. LIke I said, it is currently too buggy to be useable for any real world use but I think the developers may have created a new way of designing iPad apps.

Dan,
Solid pro vs con review with the stand out feature in the article, for me at least, the simile at the end, "...it's like building a scale model of Atlantis." Loved it!
In your opinion should Apple consider buying Tapose and putting their developers into what sounds like a beta product with potential?

All I want....is to be able to look at something on one side of my 2012 iPad's screen, and take notes about it on the other. Is this too hard for Apple to understand, or do they expect me to walk around with two tablets like some big geek Moses?
