"Bump requires physical contact between devices."
Not possible. There's no such sensor available. Therefore they're doing it heuristically. Therefore it can be spoofed, intentionally or otherwise.

The righteous and rock'n, bastion! Lay'n down some serious SAT vocab and couching it in philosophic phrasing, no less.
And they say comments are flooded with nothing but mindless vitriol.
Hail, bastion! Bravely leading us into intelligent commentingdom!

why not just use PayPal?
Isn't it a good thing to have competition? Yes it is. In everything. From dry cleaners to grocery-mart retailers to banks, to telephone companies. You would condemn someone merely for offering an alternative business?
Or, perhaps, you meant to suggest something else entirely. Perhaps you meant to question why this would be a unique or better system than PayPal. Well I think the story makes clear a number of unique aspects to paying in this manner: you need to be in physical contact with your buyers/sellers phone, you don't need to send to an email account, you presumably get to SEE the person you're giving the money to. Of course, bastion makes an important point and security will need to be proven, just as in any other transaction system. But yes, crime does exist. And my local bank recently had a number of customer accounts pilfered--and it turned out to be a few youthful tellers who were running the scam. Didn't need hackers or spoofers for that one! Good luck to bump-pay.
