All clear here! Thanks, Juan Leon - you did what a phone call to Apple Care and a visit to the Genius Bar couldn't: assure me that I don't have the virus.

Okay Lex, have you, or anyone on the MacWorld staff, actually come across an infected Mac? Has anyone? I just got done checking another 2 Macs, both of which required the Java update, and still have yet to find an infected Mac.
How about setting up a poll to see if anyone is actually infected?

I think the sample of commenters on this post are the type of people who know enough to not follow behavior that would infect their macs. Honestly, the people who care enough about their computer to read about it are not the target audience for malware developers. They want people who still think a computer is magical not mechanical.

Every source that I have gone to has given me a let for checking and deleting Flashback from OSX 10.5 or higher, but how do I do it with OSX 10.4.11? I can't install and run any newer version of Java and I can't run Chrome. I also cannot further upgrade my Mac or it's OS.

Thanks so much for telling us about this app. I used it and was relieved that it showed Flashback free (& this was before I downloaded the newest Java update.
