Mac Skydrive app requires Lion. Ugh.

I've had a very positive 2+ years of experience with DropBox.

I've had a lifetime of pain and suffering with Microsoft.

I don't think a little extra sugar is going to lure me away from the new girl.

This was yet another stupid move from Microsoft. How could they require an Os that still doesn't satisfy a large number of Mac users?

Even if I'm eligible for the 25GB upgrade, I just can't use SkyDrive yet. But Microsoft isn't renowned for backwards compatibility.
MacBook Pro 8,1, 16GB, 500GB
Mac OS X 10.6.8 as main OS (Thanks, trusty old BlackBook!), 10.7.3 for playing around.
Politely tell Apple what they did wrong with Mountain Lion: give them feedback!

I actually like it better than iCloud's version of file syncing/storing, which is odd because I have a general distaste for MS. It syncs really well with the backup files I need on my work laptop (win) and my Mac. I had it a while ago when it was the crappy system with 25GB so I get to keep my giant space. nom nom nom nom

Well, SkyDrive *used* to be the best thing going, and much faster than Dropbox in my experience. 7 GB is still better than 2 GB, but it's a massive downgrade from 25!!!

At least they're grandfathering the old accounts to 25 GB.

One reason I really liked SkyDrive was that it didn't bother with Dropbox's molasses-like syncing model and instead simply allowed you to upload and download files.

Not only is SkyDrive i386 and Lion only, but it does not support all the filenames available on the Mac. I had a filename with a colon (:) in it. SkyDrive choked on it. Apparently you are limited to filenames that are only allowed on Windows.

Oh and with Dropbox I'm up to 9.5 GB for referring friends. I copied my Dropbox folder to SkyDrive and then realized it wasn't big enough.

And the path can't be more than 256 characters...which breaks my use of DevonThink Pro on SkyDrive (works fine on Dropbox).
Any of these characters in a filename fail: :*?"<

Seems Windows limitations are now cross-platform

Why isn't there a folder on my Mac that I can just have synced to my iPhone?!? So frustrating.

So windows users went from being limited to 8.3 filenames, to being limited to 256 character pathnames. Isn't that absurd? Why are there ANY such limitations built in?

I don't see how to share files or folders.
