How many have tried it? After the snafu last week I'm hesitant to mess with my Outlook.

Someone just installed the new update (on top of a 14.1.x) and then went through the database rebuild. After the rebuild all of his e-mails from a POP account were gone. E-mails from an Exchange account seemed to be there. There were a few synchronization errors when Outlook opened but they stopped. I recovered an older version of the identity folder from TimeMachine and waiting to see if this is a unique or pervasive problem.

So while I cannot recommend it, I hope others install this update so I can find out the nature of the problem.

It even gets better....

Outlook is downloading e-mails from the POP server but then they are nowhere to be found in Outlook.

Hello...I already have 14.2.1 "patch update" downloaded.

My Outlook was completely empty after this. I Googled some info online...then re-added my accounts and all of my emails repopulated to Outlook. I was relieved.
BUT whenever I shut down the computer and start it again, everything gone again. I am at the point where I have to go through this process everytime I start my computer. How do I keep my emails from leaving my Outlook? Help :)

I am still having an issue with mine. It shows 39 unread items in my Deleted Items folder, even though it is empty. I have followed all the directions about building a new identity, etc., but when I try to rebuild, it fails. I have the new SP installed also.

I didn't experience any issues with the original update. My Outlook DB updated fine and Outlook worked fine for me. Then I downloaded the latest update last week and find 2 issues. 1) When I click to delete a message from my InBox, the message still appears in my InBox. 2) More irritatingly, I have a POP account and have Outlook set to automatically check for mail when it starts and then every 5 minutes. I haven't figured out how frequently it's checking for new email, but it's way longer than 5 minutes. Sometimes I think it's only checking once an hour.

I installed each of the updates. The first went smoothly and without problem. With the second, i lost my Notifications window. Also, I no longer had Sync options. I completely removed all Office stuff (MS tells you how and where they are.) and totally reinstalled on both my Mac Pro and my Macbook Pro. This was relatively easy as I had kept all copies of updates. After the reinstall and moving in my User Identities and Templates, all is fine. However,I should not have had to do all of this.

I've been having trouble with the update in Word, which crashes almost every time I open it--often while I'm writing. I decided not to update to the Office SP 2. I reinstalled the disk and it seems to work fine.

Sorry, but after using MS products since Windows 3.1, Microsoft has totally lost my confidence after this complete SNAFU. An update that promises improved integration with Gmail, then causes my entire Mac to crash for "too many open files"? I don't think so.

I have now officially made the switch to Mac Mail and will stay there no matter how many updates MS comes out with - I don't trust them any more, period. I'll keep the other Office products for work/compatibility, but Outlook? It's gone.

I have been regularly dealing with this, but this week it hit a new low. I am using ical and outlook for mac with lion, so not sure where the blame lies. However, because of repeated events I decided to delete ALL old events in my calendar so people never get cancellations for events from 2009 again. I expected everyone to get notified of the cancellations hopefully for the last time (but better than repeatedly).

ANYWAYS, this time something sent out automatic emails to any email address mentioned in the note section of the event!!!! If I had cut and pasted event info from an email into the note section of my event, something scrolled through all the notes to myself, and sent the entire note as cancelled to anyone mentioned in the note section!!!! My personal notes about the event were ALSO sent to the recipient! This is very embarrassing! Luckily I don't keep nasty notes to myself (I hope - I deleted them, so I wont' even know if I did unless someone yells at me!). How in the world is this possible? These were NOT group invites - these were my own calendar entries for myself without any invites attached. But it found any email address within the event message/note and sent my ENTIRE note to these email addresses with the word "cancelled" in front of it.

I'm not sure if it is ical or outlook, but I never want to use whichever program it is again! I have now erased events from both calendars, and want to start populating one again, but not sure which one is safe. Tempted to start using paper. Anyone else have this problem? I think people should know about it so they can at least be careful about using notes in an event.

After a reboot, Outlook is now actually removing an email from my InBox when I hit the Delete button and seems to actually be following the set schedule for checking for new emails. However, I have now discovered an issue with editing the notes for an appointment. When I try to make the edit, Outlook crashes. Once it restarts, I can make the edit. But then if I try to make a second edit to the same appointment, Outlook crashes again. I haven't tried editing another appointment yet.

I tend to agree with others, this has me thinking about abandoning Outlook altogether.

By the way, I'm on Snow Leopard.
