Can't tell if these are on-ear or over the ear- please advise. Thanks!

They're on-ear—they don't completely surround the ears.

It might appeal to the 'cost-conscious crowd' but the vegans among us appreciate it for being non-leather.

I was recently looking at various cables to upgrade our microphones and came across an incredibly thin cable which was almost unbreakable -- the outer sheath was very strong yet flexible enough to use on a pair of headphones. The building committee turned them down due to cost -- cheaper to replace the standard cables three or four times than use something which is expensive yet almost indestructible.
The point I want to make is that headphones this costly need to come with better cabling. My Sennheisers ended up with one broken cable so I only got sound from one earpiece. So I went out and bought some nice strong 2-yards long phono patch cable, and hard wired the cable to the headphones. The phones now sound even better and they have double-shielded cabling, thick but flexible. My kids now want me to do the modification on the home headphones.
