Thanks very much for the suggestion. I gave it a go and it's easy peasy. I've updated the article to mention it.

This Blinq photo app is unbelievable! Don't know the "magic" but I have been able to remotely share thousands of photos from my iphone. Highly recommend this product.

Chris, why wouldn't you just use Dropbox (or any of the other cloud-storage services)? Am I missing something?

Suppose you're on the road and your images are in iPhoto. Dropbox is no help if you haven't already moved files to it.

If you don't have WiFi then photostream won't work. I'm suggesting you replace "photostream" with "Dropbox" (or similar) in the second method you described.

"Regrettably you can choose to copy only one image at a time."

That one sentence is an obvious deal breaker. Only one photo at a time?

It's a workable solution. I prefer Photo Stream as there are fewer steps involved but if you prefer to work with Dropbox, have at it.

A deal breaker? Do you have another service that can do more? It may not be ideal but it's something. and usually I'm not looking to bring a whole folder/gallery over, I just need to find that pic of Aunt Flossie in that horrendous red dress at last year's family reunion and show it to cousin Jamie who, fortunately, missed it (thank goodness for technology, now I can share the horror)

PhotoStream only works with wifi? Photos aren't sent over 3G or better? Holding in to my grandfathered unlimited plan I never thought of the data strain of caps.

Thanks for the article! Can't wait to set this up! One additional question: is it only photos or are videos in iPhoto accessible?

I have a thought that might prove worthy... I connect with my remote computer with the program "LogMeIn," but any remote program would work. Once you navigate to the photo you want on the remote computer why not just adjust the size to fill the iOS device screen and do a screen capture? I suppose the resolution would suffer but if that isn't an issue for you... ok. Still only one at a time, but less trouble than file transfers.

If the Photo Stream solution is used, and the original photo is ever deleted from the iMac, would it still be available in iCloud and on the iOS device?

I employ another method - I use PhotoSync (App & desktop). You can transfer multiple copies at once and in either direction, iDevice to desktop or vise-versa. It integrates a host of cloud services like dropbox and it allows direct transfers between iDevices. It's my preferred method of transferring photos/videos.
