One might also try the simplest method - the AllPagesZoom Safari Extension here: http://sidetree.com/...ml#AllPagesZoom

It’s probably also helpful to note there are two distinct options for “zooming.” The whole page, graphics and all can be zoomed, OR one can choose to zoom only the text.

Toggle this choice via View > Zoom Text Only.

The method I've chosen to use is to install FireFox. I set pages for different sites to a size that I like, using buttons that I've put in the menu bar, and FireFox remembers these settings when I return to a site.

FireFox increases both the fonts and graphics so that the page layout still works well.

What's the point of having large monitors when the font is almost always too small?

There really is no standard being used by the different developers at each site. Some of them are using CSS, some specify font sizes in the page, some don't have a clue.

Meanwhile, some sites design for 1024 x 768 resolution, while others choose larger or even smaller page sizes for their design.

The browser should remember the size that I've chosen for each page because the developers are not able to get a real common page or font size standard (too many monitor size choices).

I've been using the Safari extension Rightsizer (by Canisbos) to address this need and have been very satisfied. The developer has since superseded this extension with his Quickstyle extension which expands on the capabilities of Rightsizer.

Chris,

Here is a third way you can reset safari to full screen size.
Copy & paste the following java script into Safari's menu bar.

javascript:self.moveTo(0,0);self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);

A pop-up window will appear requesting a name. Assign this java script a name of your choosing (I named mine "full") and close the window. Now, you are ready to go. Upon launching Safari, if it does not open to your full screen just click on this name icon in the menu bar. This will force Safari to the full screen.
Cheers - mojo

This is a great tip, thanks. It solves not only my large monitor sizing issue but also the growing incompatibility between my MacBook Air 11-inch screen and my aging eyes. NOW, is there a similar trick for auto-zooming MAIL?!

mojo,
This did not work for me. Maybe I don't quick understand what you saying by "paste it following java script into Safari's menu bar. I tried pasting it into the Address bar and pressing Enter, but nothing happened. Was that what I was supposed to do?
Thanks,
Dave
