If so much is made for digital publishing, maybe they should introduce "snap to pixel grid" option?

I'm going to wait for actual ebook production pros to weigh in on exactly how much better ID's ePub export is. The code 5.5 exports is a big mess to clean up.

I agree with Moeskido. I'm delighted by all the new features that let content be repurposed from print to digital, but it'll all be of little value if the ePub is a mess. I refuse to tweak PDF or ePub code. It's Adobe's responsibility to get that right.
It'll also be interesting to see if Amazon will come up with effective mobi and KF8 export plug-ins for ID CS6. In the past, Amazon's been so secretive, it's difficult to know what they're going to do or, once done, what their plug-ins can and can't do. I don't have the time to test whether each and everything ID can do translates effectively into all the platforms that Amazon supports. It's Amazon's responsibility to tell us that sort of thing.

What is the state--and plans--for ID CS6.x to provide integrated generation of .mobi files (e.g., for Amazon Kindle)...without resorting to plug-ins?

Some of these features have been inspired by QuarkXPress. Good to see the improvements. I find ePub created from QuarkXPress is much cleaner and validates well. QuarkXPress 9.3 now provides Kindle Export natively without requiring additional plugins.

You can get rid of the desktop blocking background. Go to Window, and uncheck "Application Frame."

Great new tools from Adobe however there is a bug they must fix for real world publishers first. CS4 pages with master page elements that have been selectively removed from non-master pages return for no reason when opening CS4 files using CS5.5 or CS6. So far no fix or sign of a fix coming from Adobe. I have a new hire who only has CS5 therefore she can not work on legacy CS4 projects without first remaking all the pages that use less than full master page elements. Like the race car driver from the movie "The Great Race" they seem to have removed the rear view mirror from the race car!
