As with many Macworld podcasts, this topic is of great interest to me. As with all audio Macworld podcasts, I won't be listening because I don't have 38 minutes to burn. Why not include a transcript right here on this page?

We don't have the resources to transcribe each podcast. Our time is as precious as yours.

Huh? How is reading quicker than listening?

Since everyone's time is so precious how about posting some pros and cons bullets and brief summary/recommendations. We don't need a dissertation, just a feel for the worth of an upgrade...or not. Thanks!

Actually most people can read faster than they can talk.

Chris, that may be true but a brief synopsis would be a reasonable approach. you could use the notes/outline and or script for the podcast to write an executive summary

That's essentially what the show notes are for. In this case we provide links to Lisa and Jay's reviews of Photoshop and InDesign, respectively. If you want to forego the podcast because you don't have time to listen to it, reading those reviews would provide you with more information about the products than you'd find in the audio recording.

Like, say, the pros and cons and buying advice on the reviews themselves?

Here's a better link for Jay Nelson's free book on self-publishing and the current digital landscape: http://www.design-to...nelsonselfpub/.
The one I mentioned in the podcast goes to a slightly older version, which lacks information about Apple's iBooks Author. Sorry about that!

They did a great job over at PCmag
http://www.pcmag.com...,2404078,00.asp

It even starts with a brief pro/con/bottom line and price comparison.

Our reviews feature the same kinds of pros and cons. What we're talking about here is adding that kind of information to the podcast. We don't. Instead we offer links in the show notes (and embedded in the enhanced version of the podcast) to the information discussed where listeners can get more written detail. That's pretty much standard podcast practice.
