I am in Higher Ed, and we are in the process of migrating from Windows to Mac. We use Google Apps for Education as our email system. In evaluation of email clients to replace Outlook for Windows, we've discovered a glaring problem. None of the popular email clients (including Mac Address book) will synchronize or allow "auto-complete" of an address from the organization wide Directory. It will only work with "My Contacts" in Gmail. So, if I want to send an email to a recipient in my organization, that I have never sent nor received an email from - we cannot look up the name or even "auto-complete" search for the name from the organization wide Directory found in Gmail Contacts.
Does anyone know of a Mac email client that will allow for this? Any direction on this would be helpful.
FYI - Mac Address Book.app only syncs with Gmail's "My Contacts." It will not allow a look up of the "corporate" or "organization" Directory found within Gmail's Contacts app.

This might be too late for you, but in the "Composing" pane of the Apple Mail preferences there's a place to enter your organization's LDAP server. This will allow your autocomplete to autocomplete. ;-)
I know that I had deployed this for a very large corporate client almost 10 years ago (early days of OSX and early Mac Mail client). It worked like a charm then. Can't imagine it's not gotten better.
FYI. Hope this helps.
