This camera is amazing. That slight hum is the 5-axis stabilization which is one of the best features of the camera. Well worth the humming noise. I went from a DSLR setup to the OM-D, and man I love it.

I'm excited about this camera - everything I've read so far has been very positive. Not so excited about parting with ~$1300, but I think it will be worth it.

I'm a strong fan of the old OM-2. If this camera is even half the camera that one is, it's a winner. Yes, I'd even sell my Nikon with kit lenses (both of them) to buy one of these.

Cons? The soft humming sound at startup is certainly not a CON! It is the sound of the sensor being cleaned through a vibration methodology. This is a PRO not a CON.

this camera is amazing, the IBIS works like a charm, especially with the canon lens through adaptor,
thumps up to olympus. the humming noise don't bother me at all, you hardly notice it.

I'm sorry but you're mixing things up, these are two different things. And although ibis is worth the humming, the noise is a little annoying sometimes.
Actually at startup I don't even hear the sensor cleaning sound like in the dslrs.
