I'd like to have third party mail and Instant messaging apps added to the list of background-capable applications.

I don't use third party mail, but IM apps have been doing that for a long time. Kik Messenger, Skype, etc.

A Canadian English dictionary would be nice, we're only the second largest country in the world, on the fifth version of the iPhone and I still can't type in my language! I want to be able to type about my favourite colours of armour without my phone telling me my spelling is wrong. :P

Also, when viewing app updates it would be great if it told you the size of the update, especially since Apple increased the data limit from 25mb to 50mb. I only have a measly 500mb data package and 50mb is a lot of my usage.

Oh, and I too would love text selection like in the Hooper Selection concept video.

The ability to export out app data (game progress) on any/all apps or better yet have iTunes keep all that information even after you delete an app from a device. I currently have 2-3 gigs worth of games on my iPad that I would love to take off of it, but I have hours of progress that I don't want to lose.

Love the WiFi idea. Would like a similar approach to bluetooth. I want it on when I'm in the car and off everywhere else.

I've created a running log (in Notes, of course) of what features I don't like in iOS 5.x and what Apple should do to rectify them. Mind you, I've only been a user of iOS since Dec 2011 when I purchased an iPod Touch 4.
So often, I find myself NOT liking iOS at all. And there are times when I really just want to go back to my old scroll wheel iPod and ditch iOS all together.
My biggest gripe is the home button. I find myself hating to press it. More often than not I find myself pressing the Home button at wrong times. This happens always when I'm playing a selection in the Music app; I press the home button thinking I'll stay within the Music app, but get sent to its first screen. I do this all the time and then get that "duh, you were already in Music, just hit the back button."
Why is it that my inclination makes me hit the home button and not think to hit the back arrow?

Call recording
and second call message for crying out loud...

This is so basic, why not include them already ... :(

Ability to blacklist phone numbers. With political season upon us and their ability to ignore my request to be left alone, I get a lot of unwanted phone calls. This can be done on a jail broken iPhone; why not make it native to iOS?

Absolutely the ability to Select All in Mail. I have multiple devices (iPhone 4S, iPad, and Mac) and multiple accounts, most of them POP. I like having access to my email on all devices, but once I've reviewed my mail on my phone, I'd like to be able to select all my mail on my iPad and delete...or selectively mark some to not delete, then delete the rest.

From the iPhone (Bluetooth) I'd like to be able to just disconnect from a device and not have to "Forget this device" allowing me to reconnect later.

(Forwarded) Also great would be Bluetooth broadcasting of GPS coordinates. Most iPads are sold without cellular and thus without GPS. It'd be great if iOS users could put their iPhone on the dash and use its GPS location to track where they're going on an iPad's much larger screen. That'd be a major one-up on Android.

Important:

I want to be able to sync my iPod nano and iPod shuffle to my iPad. (broken computer) if Apple added a way to do that with 30-pin to 30-pin cords, that would be EPIC.

A way to transfer battery power to another device. Like my 10-hour iPad battery has 100% and and my iPhone has 3%, but I REALLY need access to the phone. Well, charge up the phone using the iPad battery.

When you upgrade to a new device, instead of having to reinstall all the apps and put them where they go in the home screen, have a way to clone over bluetooth it so it's an exact copy of your old devices layouts, etc., but with new hardware.

Would love to be able to tell the Phone app to not ring or vibrate if calls come in with Unknown or Blocked caller ID. Send them straight to voicemail and don't bother me. No missed call badge or anything like that. Would also be nice to be able to designate certain phone numbers to be treated the same way.

Also, PLEASE, for the love of all that is good, give us the ability to mark a voicemail message as Unread so that it's icon badge continues to show - and remind me to act on that message later.
