I realize the fantastic editorial staff of Macworld has little control over this, but man are those pop-up Porsche ads on the bottom of the page on iPad's Mobile Safari annoying! They pop up on EVERY SINGLE PAGE! And you have to click the little "x" to close them! EVERY SINGLE TIME!
If I was in the market for a Porsche, I wouldn't be any more after being annoyed to Hell by these ads. I mean, there must be some sort of diminishing return when your strategy is to bug people into dropping upwards of $80k on your product...
Please don't let your site become one of those.

Annoying Porsche ads on iPad I guess I should be flattered...

I was just about to post the exact same comment. The tiny little X, which is very iPad hostile, makes me want to throttle Porsche, not step on the throttle.
Please, don't Macworld. Otherwise, my iPad won't be visiting.

I have stopped trying to tap the "x" as I almost always went to the ad's site instead.
I also get the Macworld Daily Reader ad. If I scroll fast enough, soon enough, I don't see it. But I have the app on my iPad, but choose not to use it. I don't need an obnoxious reminder every time I come to Macworld. Is there a URL I can use to not see this every time? I hope so.
Other than that, Macworld is one of my favorite sites, please don't drive me away.
Thx. Joel.

Another vote here to kill that Porsche ad!
I can understand, and would tolerate it, if it came up once per site visit. But every single page load is excessive. You should be able to close the ad once and that's it. I've already started to visit this site less because that ad is so annoying. The iPad screen is only so big and to have that ad take up the bottom portion of the screen makes this site less appealing to visit/support.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'm also getting the iPad App pop-up now too. I grabbed a screenshot:

Macworld was the first site I visited in my daily quest to broaden my Machorizons. The pervasiveness of the Porshe ads have relegated Macworld to rarely, if ever, visited status (I keep checking to see if the ads have stopped).
I would never buy a Porsche (won't pull my horse trailer), but even so, I don't mind an ad on "A" page. I'm aware that ads generate the revenue to pay for the content, and if Macworld posts something I'm interested in I'll click and visit the vendor's site. I wouldn't intentionally click the Porsche ad, even if I wanted one, because I don't like to encourage bad behavior.
The precision required to dismiss the ad makes me want to take up video gaming in order to develop the skills needed to hit the x. Apparently the people at Porsche have great vision and small thumbs.
Keep up the good work on the other fronts.
