I don't want to rain on the parade, but I bought the first Logitech solar keyboard when it was released. A couple of months later, the space bar stopped working reliably (it worked 2 out of every 3 times I pressed it). Logitech exchanged the keyboard. In the exchange, the new receiver they sent didn't work. The new keyboard lasted a few months before the same thing happened. I got a refund (I had bought it directly from Logitech) rather than try a third one.

Several people I know have had to exchange these keyboards for various reasons. Perhaps now that it's been around for a while it will be better, but I wouldn't buy one of them. The idea is great, but the quality isn't there.

I also bought the original Logitech Keyboard (I actually bought it because of the NumPad !). While I had no serious problems with it so far, the keyboard still works fine, I have some issues with it, one which seems to be solved by this Mac specific version.

First, the original version uses Logitech's proprietary wireless technology. This requires a USB-dongle, occupying one of the scarce USB ports on my iMac (and actually, the Dongle is so huge, it blocks the neighbors to an extend, although, they included an extender, which doesn't really help). All Macs come equipped with Bluetooth, so this wouldn't really be necessary. It seems this version finally fixes that!

Second, the Logitech keyboard isn't as well crafted as Apple's version. It's thin and bends easily, the plastic casing seems cheap. From the pictures, the new version looks like the old. So, if you like solid quality keyboard (especially on the road with an iPad), I would still go with the Apple keyboard, the batteries won't need recharging for weeks.

I'm really holding out in hopes Apple updates everything to Bluetooth 4.0. While they're at it, how about a full-size Bluetooth keyboard with the numeric pad? There are plenty of Mac users who need that for numeric data entry, and aftermarket USB keypads aren't the best solution.

And I've been using the K750 for Mac for months without any problems, so it's clearly not a universal problem.

Since when does the Apple Bluetooth keyboard not have an on/off switch? I've been using the one on my keyboard since I bought it. Did Apple accidentally add one to mine that's not on anyone else's?

What do you call that on the round end?

Sorry, I phrased that poorly. What I meant was a hardware switch with a physical "Off" position, rather than a software toggle that's too easy to accidentally press and turn on the keyboard ;)

Yes, but I know two other people who had to exchange theirs. Out of my small sample, that's a pretty high percentage.

I've had the Logitech solar keyboard for about a month now, and I find it such a relieve not deal with recharging batteries. Though I like the style and design of Apple's keyboard, charging the batteries is a sheer pain. However, I must admit for some reason the number's keypad doesn't work on my Logitech keyboard. I haven't taken the time to look into what the problem is.

I'm confused. Logitech's been shipping their tiny little Unifying USB receiver for years now. It only protrudes from the USB port by a few millimeters and isn't wide enough to block neighboring ports. Unless you have a knockoff, you should have received the receiver in the image below with your K750, as I did with mine.
