One notable feature of Square, which appeals to me as a customer of businesses that use the service, is the ability to run a tab with a merchant from a client app on my iPhone, and then pay the tab and tip out from that app, with all charges going to my on-file credit card. No need to dig out and swipe my card, or have to interact with the device the business is using. Very convenient and pleasant.
