Man I was hoping this would address ripping movies and tv shows into iTunes using Handbrake. Metadata is the worst part of that deal, especially show descriptions.

Have you tried MetaX?

MetaX is good, I also have iDentify from the Mac App Store, both work very well.

The "Album by Artist/Year" sorting is great, save for one problem - when an artist releases two albums in the same year. For example, the albums "Sgt. Peppers" and "Magical Mystery Tour" were both released in 1967, but sorting by "Artist by Album/Year" will list them alphabetically, with Mystery Tour first, when actually Sgt. Peppers was released first. The only way to get them in the right order is to change other metadata, such as changing the year of the first song of Sgt. Peppers to 1966, or changing the "sort album" field (like 2Magical Mystery Tour). Of course, doing this creates other problems.

I don't expect Apple to ever remedy this, as the iTunes music listings are mostly an afterthought to Apple at this point. One other thing: I wish they would allow larger album art in the list view, as in iTunes 9 and earlier (I still use iTunes 9).

Agreed! Another issues similar to this is if you want them in the opposite order. Say, by Album, Newest to Oldest. you would think that you just do Album by Artist/Year and flip the arrow over. Nay. This will just reverse the list, so it will have the albums in the correct order, but the tracks will be 14 13 12 11 10... when you want them in ascending order. This IS something that I want Apple to fix because it's annoying to have to write scripts that will do this in a playlist or something.

I sent in the first question and the answer does address it but as you noted, it only works for tracks ripped off CDs. Is there any solution to reset the genre for purchased tracks?

I just got an iphone 4, and I'm already having trouble syncing music. I have a shared library, and I'm trying to get this said music off of the shared network. I have tried dragging the piece of music to my iPhone labeled "iPhone". Doesnt work. Anything would help, so if you would. Please get back to me.
