Of course they will hype it because there loosing there biggest client soon and don't want others to think they haven't got the best mapping system. Good riddance to google there a bunch of carpet baggers and love to steal your privacy and innovations.

All I can say is if Apple are dumping Google maps they had better have one hell of a good replacement. I went to use Bing maps the other day and it set me back 10 years .. what a pile of steaming crap.

If Apple replaces Google with just some fancy 3D tricks etc but drops all the fine detail lower level integration and detail of google maps it will be one of the biggest mistakes they could make (in my humble opinion)

If I can still use Google Maps then it will be a win for us. With 2 or more companies in a field all benefit as each developer will try to top the other. But that requires both to be good or better. Google Maps has done their part in being better, but can Apple match Google. Other than PowerPoint Apple after6-7 years still has not been able to top MS Word or most important to me MS Excel. Just because Apple makes it does not make it even good.

If Apple makes it their maps or none, I will vote with running Google Maps on our Android cellphones. Plus I have unlimited data on them while I don't with any of my Apple iToys.

I vote for Google Maps first, but I believe that we all need competition. Maye that is why Apple is taking away features from their Mac OS, to allow MS to catch up. But Windows 8 seems to not be helping that out very much.

Numbers was never meant to 'top' Excel, it's just a different take on working with datasheets. Excel has the most features and lacks in ease of use, Numbers simply choses to do less (most of Excel's features are never used by most users) but make it easier and more fun to do so.
Different products with different aims.

You can say what you want but for me Numbers is a non useful program. I tried to support it but Apple just left it as an idea that needs a lot of work. The lack of a new version in the past 43+ months means to me that iis really just a joke program. Maybe a lead in to an iOS program that never does do much of anything. Numbers does not need to top Excel, it just needs to be a more advanced spreadsheet than SuperCalc was on my DP/M HeathKits back in the later 70's or early 80's.

Numbers is the typical Apple thing of starting something & not finishing it Pages was brought a little farther along. But it has been left languishing for these same 43+ months. KeyNote since it was used by Steve Jobs for doing his keynotes has had more updates. For this reason & the seriouness that Apple at least at one time gave it it is a very good alternative to PowerPoint.

I've used Excel for 27+ years now. Over that time I have purchased countless spreadsheet programs to see if they could outperform Excel. Non have ever come close. So I just try to find one that can do some simple things as well as Excel does. Numbers is not one of those programs.

While I'm a fan of Apple I have to admit for a while now they seem to be resting on laurels. The iPhone and iPad have been incrementally updated, Macs have gotten Thunderbolt but the Mac Pro is stagnant, much of their software has '09 attached to it, Siri is a wonderful technology but admittedly beta. A new maps feature is just the thing to wow us. Besides MapQuest back in the day the arena has been owned by Google. I don't see Aplple taking this move lightly. And, with so much languishing in the same ol' rut Apple really needs to deliver innovation. I hope it's maps, I hope iOS 6 as a whole astounds. I want WWDC to be bursting at the seams with magic.

Apple release Numbers 2.1 last July, so 11 months ago.

What simply things do you feel Numbers doesn't do?
