Looking for a little help.
Bought my Imac back in 2007 and have not updated it. Now Firefox and Itunes aren't working as they should. Have searched Apple store for 'how to' and can't figure out which is my next step.
Do I need to install Leopard, the Snow Leopard and then eventually Lion or can I skip and download (buy) the latest useable version? Thanks for any advice

no discs for Lion.
prolly not easy getting the discs for SL either.
but you pretty much need Snow Leopard so you can get into App Store.

Don't know about upgrading from 10.4 to Lion. I loaded all new versions from 10.4 to 10.6 SL and ordered lion thumb drive. It will not load unless you have upgraded to 10.6.6. I guess the downloaded version works the same although it strike me as a MS type operation.

You don't need to upgrade to Leopard. Check with the Apple Store for 10.6.3 Snow Leopard DVDs. You should do a complete backup of your personal files to a different disk, and then install SL. Do the backup first in the event you have problems and have to do an erase and install of SL. Once you are on SL, download and run the combo updater to get to 10.6.8 which is what you need to upgrade to Lion. Then check which software will run on Lion. Remember that Lion drops support for Power PC apps. You might decide it is not worth it to go to Lion.
