Sorry, 2nd and third gen iPads. The first isn't powerful enough, and doesn't have enough RAM for many of the new features. As for FaceTime, as it has no cameras, that wouldn't work anyway.

File formats are another area where Apple comes up lacking. It's two operating systems may now share more apps, but they still communicate poorly, particularly with text. PDF, for instance, has a fixed page size which displays poorly on an iPhone. Epub export would be vastly better, but isn't supported like PDF. And to properly support ePub, Apple needs to build-in support for tagging text with meaning based styles. Microsoft Word has done that since the late 1980s and HTML since the beginning. It's time Apple 'thought different' and quit pretending that WordStar circa 1982 was the last word in text handling.

I've been using the free "Waze" app for quite some time, and it's good enough that I don't even bother with my dedicated GPS any more. Real-time traffic updates and speed trap reports, too. Maybe the new maps app will replace it, but it's gonna have to be awfully good. Waze is excellent.

As long as you remember to turn it off when you arrive at your destination, Waze is indeed excellent. Otherwise it sucks your battery quietly and quickly while your phone sits in your pocket.
