In 1995 I purchase a Kodak DCS460, a 6MP digital back built onto a Nikon N90 (the sharpest camera I owned until I picked up a Nikon D800E). While shooting some location images I found I could combine multi-exposures in photoshop. After doing this for 10 years I heard someone talking about the new technique of HDR photography.

Combining multiple exposures with Photoshop multiply/etc methods isn't technically HDR, which has some specific methods of merging values, as I understand it. You can create images with greater tonal distribution and range by combining exposures, but you need the algorithms associated with HDR in a plug-in or other tool to take full advantage and have flexible control of the output.

I use TrueHDR and like it. It led me to get a desktop program with even better results, esp. because using a better ('real') camera with good lens.

About your recommendation for stitching a panorama -- it doesn't have good reviews

Don't buy, get auto stitch instead

Don't be fooled, this app is worthless. The directions are written in such bad English that you can't understand them. App is difficult to use, and iit keeps failing to create a pano pic. I bought auto stitch and am much happier. Don't waste your $ like I did.

uhh waste of money

try a different panoramatic app

Very clunky

I want my dollar back. what a waist of time to try to get this to work. I shot several pictures hoping that it would stitch them together and every time, it only used 2 photos out of 6 or 7. very disappointed.

ADDENDUM, After reading other comments I'd thought I should mention, for those interested the HDR program I use and like on desktop is Nik Software, Inc. | HDR Efex Pro -- a Plug-In for Photoshop.
