iTunes Connection Error -54 Help

Hi there all, I need help (in simple easy to follow steps if possible) to fix an iTunes connection issue.

The alert message received after opening iTunes is: iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occurred (-54)

Mac OS X v10.6.x
iTunes 10.6
Australia

I need step by step instructions on how to fix this problem PLEASE!!!!

I think you might have an issue with your spyware protection. Turn it off for itunes or take itunes off the list of application under spyware protection. It should do the work. I had same error for connecting to iTunes store. I was using Intego VB6. I removed itunes app from the list and it worked like a charm.
