Come on people we should not be using these outdated email clients.
Where is the competition and innovation from Google -oh they just killed it by offering a free product. Outlook is slow and bloated I just want to read email quickly not go through all the options in outlook. Is there a really fast simple email client anywhere at any price i would buy it. Maybe Apple will save the day?

Facebook, Google and Twitter are really bad for tracking your every move and building up a profile on you. If you are a businessman running a business do you want this?
Real privacy can be obtained by using "Cookie", or Safari Cookies", "Disconnect", "Ghostery" apps and plugins, and use "Duck, Duck, Go" search engine at least until you have Cookie up and running. You will be shocked to learn just who is tracking your every move, both on the web and in your computer.
All the apps mentioned really show you who is doing what and then ask if you want to get rid of the tracking cookies etc. I use Google and Facebook now, because I only have their cookies that do not track. But even with a safer more private Facebook, it is just too public for me to conduct sensitive business or use copyright materials. If you are really, really serious, use an old fashioned fax machine, that is one on one only.
But I agree with most respondents here, email should be okay if controlled properly. We have Mail Preference Rules and Applescript to get it right as well as the obvious visible controls offered by Apple.
By the way, when you actually see the hundreds of tracking cookies in red inside your computer and you get rid of them with a single click and every 2 minutes or 5 minutes thereafter, you can set the time, something happens, really, like a HUGE sigh of relief. Then life on the internet has become sweeter, a lot more sweeter. Hope this helps.
Cheers everyone and have a wonderful week.

I agree with most of what you have written; I use Cookie, Ghostery and similar apps. I use Runbox for e-mail with domains that I own and GyazMail for my e-mail client. Google is a no-go for me since it scans the contents of e-mail messages.
I use filters and separate mailboxes to manage my e-mail. If a message winds up in my inbox it is a mistake. Using my system it is easy to know what is important e-mail and what can safely be ignored until it is more convenient.
However, Cookie does not prevent the logging of your IP address by Google or anyone else. If you want to avoid Google logging all your web searches use DuckDuckGo or Startpage. Download Glims (http://www.machangout.com/) and you can add DuckDuckGo and Startpage to the search field in Safari. There is also a DuckDuckGo extension that adds a separate search field in Safari but it is limited to DuckDuckGo.
If you want to shield your IP address from everyone and prevent your ISP from logging all your online activities I highly recommend using a personal VPN service. VPN has additional security features that are particular valuable if you use public WiFi and wired hotspots. I have used Witopia's personalVPN for five years. It is reasonably priced at around $5/month and you can use it with iOS and Android devices too.
