So is Facebook getting the guy responsible for 16-bit greyscale icons in iTunes and Lion? Then good riddance!
Now's your chance, Apple, to bring back some colour to your Mac OS interface! What's the point of having a Retina Display if all the cute little iOs-ified icons are all dumbed-down?

I totally agree. While I don't want everything to look like gum drops and rainbows, a little color helps the eye differentiate between things. I really dislike the iTunes and Finder sidebar icons. Now everything looks the same you can't tell what program you're in. It's a gray boring world.

If Chris Welldreyer is responsible for the graying of iTunes and the OS X interface, I won't miss him one bit. He belongs at a place like Facebook where ugly is SOP.
As for the Windows branded tablet PC, of course it's aimed at promoting Windows 8 adoption. But that's not all it's aimed at. It would be an incredibly expensive promotional stunt if it were. Not even Microsoft is that free-handed with money. They clearly have other plans for it's success. Whether those plans will actually come to fruition is another question. In any event, I'm sure it won't be long before Acer comes up with a Surface tablet clone of their own.

Unless he was the fellow who introduced the new simile-leather look to Address Book and iCal. Who-ever you may be, I congratulate you. Yuck.

We're talking software (iOS & Mac App stores) not hardware, which is a bit stupid really. Selling software in a non-existent hardware market isn't going to generate much sales for Apple, and there is no possibility of the halo effect. What the hell are these people going to run their software on??
I was born in Malawi, grew up & educated in Zimbabwe. I still keep up-to-date with the tech situation there, and let me assure you that people there still love WinPCs, Blackberrys and are moving towards Android -- Apple products are few and far between. Most Apple products come from South Africa (which is a growing market) or sold by tourists visiting these countries as they do fetch good money IF you can find a buyer.
